We're Back to Two Doctors Again!
Dr. Berica Day officially started at the office this past Friday, which is definitely a cause for celebration after being solo for the past two years. Of course, I'd gotten so used to that again that even though I knew she was going to be available to share being on call, I forgot to actually set the phone system up that way. Haha, it's going to take everyone some time to get used to having two doctors available now!
After hours phone and email access to the doctors during the normal work week will now expand to allow for the option to specifically reach Dr. Cevey or Dr. Day. The best after hours email access for Dr. Cevey is still drcevey@hotmail.com. The equivalent for Dr. Day is drday.ceveypediatrics@gmail.com. Email response times may be up to 24 hours. For more urgent questions, both doctors are accessible via their cell phones, but only through the office phone tree. If you call the office after hours, you now have 4 options:
0- leaves a message on the front desk voice mail that will be checked the next time the office is open. Please do not leave messages requesting urgent same day appointments as messages left on the voice mail aren't returned until after the initial rush of phone calls that always happens when the phone lines open at the start of the day.
1- transfers your call to the Methodist Call-A-Nurse nurse triage system for general nurse advice
2- transfers your call to Dr. Cevey's cell phone with an indication to her phone that it's from a patient so that we know it's not a spam call
3- transfers your call to Dr. Day's cell phone with an indication to her phone that it's from a patient so that we know it's not a spam call
On weekends and holidays, we will take turns taking on the responsibility for all phone calls. There will be no need for parents to keep track of which number to press, though, as the phone system will be programmed to go to the cell phone number of only the doctor that is on call for the weekend or holiday. Please keep in mind that weekend and holiday emails may take longer to be responded to if it happens to be to the doctor not on call.
Now it's time for me to go figure out if I remember how to reprogram the phone system ...
