Is it Almost the End of December Again Already?
It's amazing how quickly time passes, and it seems to pass by faster each year! Interestingly it passes by like a blur but if I try to remember last Christmas it seems like forever ago. A lot has happened these last twelve months both at the office and outside the office. The biggest changes at the office revolved around preparing for adding Dr. Barakah Day, who joined us in September. Overall, it's been a good adjustment, and it's been great to get to welcome new patients and families to the practice. Dr. Day's panel is still wide open, so if you have any friends who are seeking a new pediatrician send them our way!
On the homefront, this is our family's first Christmas with an adult child coming back home for the holidays. My daughter, Emily, finished her final exams of her first semester at Baylor last week and doesn't have to go back until mid January. Baylor seems to be a wonderful fit for her, which makes this mama's heart so happy. In addition to getting her back home for the holidays, it's the first time in I can't remember how long that I've gotten to spend the holidays with my parents. I was overjoyed when they retired down here to San Antonio (from Maryland) earlier this year, so hopefully we'll have many more Christmases with them in the years to come. They'll just have to get used to possibly 70 degree Christmases, which seems like it would be a pretty easy adjustment!
The office will be closed starting Friday December 22nd through Monday December 25th so that my staff and I can celebrate with our families, but as always, I am available to be reached through the after-hours on-call phone tree for urgent issues that may come up when the office is closed. After Dr. Day joined the team, she was gracious enough to take call for both of us over Thanksgiving and Thanksgiving weekend so that I could enjoy that as my first prolonged holiday weekend off call in a really long time, so we are giving her and her family some time off call for Christmas.
I wish all the families who entrust their children to the medical care at Cevey Pediatrics a joyous blessed holiday season! Stay safe and healthy!
